LJ layout question

Hey, I want to set the background color of my comments box (as you enter it, not as it is when the comment is posted) to be a different color than my comp bg color. Is that possible? In case it's not, I ended up lightening up the comp bg color a tad so the black text is a little more legible if you're leaving a comment here.

ETA: YAAY! I got it fixed, thanks to thatsaid and arabella_hope. *kisses*

Also, did anyone else have trouble getting on LJ yesterday? I couldn't get on yesterday after 3 p.m. at all! It kept timing out. But I could get to other sites just fine!

Awww, that didn't work. :-( I think that's too advanced for me. There's probably some extra code I need to add that they're taking for granted that I know about.

The textarea, right? It kind of denpends on how you do your layout. But if you change the header image by editing some HTML, it should work to put the following over the img tag. :)

<style type="text/css">
textarea#commenttext {
background-color: #FFFFFF;
}
</style>

Oooh, sorry but I'm completely lost. Are you saying I need to put that HTML where my header image is now? O_o

Right above it. So that it's before the <img src="http://pics.livejournal.com/halfdutch/pic/00088p4z.jpg">. :)

Sorry to be so dim, but I tried putting it a few different places and it's still not working. :-/ Does it go in the head or the body? In the <td>? Because none of those worked for me.

[DIdn't work here.]

Did you include the <style> and </style> around the text? Because you had something in your header a moment ago, but it was showing up as plain text, so I think you must have forgotten those. :) I'm sorry that I suck at explaining, by the way.

Yes, that did it! I was still trying to paste the example text from somewhere else -- that did NOT include the "style" tags, btw. I guess they just assume people know about those! Thanks for being so patient with me. Yaaay!

You've made a world of difference! Now people (including me) can actually see what they type in their replies!

ohh, I couldn't get on either, but only if I used my neighbor's wireless, when I finally reset mine it was fine. I was convinced that they had somehow found out about the fictional porn and blocked me. Good to know I was mortified for no reason!!
