Saved

Is anyone else watching this show? I'm really enjoying it so far. (Apart from the annoying ex-girlfriend.) Great music, for one. In the pilot, lots of Jimi Hendrix. And last night, they played R.E.M.'s "Driver 8," which I don't have, unfortunately. Can anyone hook me up? I'm sharing Screamin' Jay Hawkins, I Put a Spell On You. (Which I first heard in the film "Stranger than Paradise.")

They list all the songs used here: (But man, oh man, do I hate sites that use Flash.)
Here's a NY Times article on Saved and The Closer.

I watched the Pilot, but haven't caught up on the latest ep off my DVR yet. I thought it was okay (all the Hendrix TOTALLY rocked!) but a little too similiar to Rescue Me, without much of the awesomeness. The RM pilot sucked me in during the first ten minutes, and so far Saved is just alright. And with the lead character (which TES annoyed the everloving piss out of me in ER, so he was already treading on thin ice with me) just seeming to be the watered down version of Tommy Gavin, I was a little meh about it. If I want to watch fucked up Tommy Gavin, I already know where to find him, hee!

But that's just based on the pilot, and pilots are, well, pilots. So I'll give it more of a chance than that, of course. I liked it enough for that, anyway. :)

LOL. I guess this show is for people like me who have given up on Rescue Me. I adore Denis Leary but I can't watch a show for just one actor or character. The other guys just drove me batty! (I know you really like it but, if you don't mind my saying so, you have this real affinity for the TV jerks of the world! LOL.)

And I'd long since given up on ER before TES appeared. I mostly just know him from "That Thing You Do" and "An American Werewolf In Paris," which was godawful, but that's not his fault!

I may not stick with this but so far, so good.

Awwww! I don't think I remembered that you'd even tried RM. And yeah, you already know I love all the boys (except for the damn dumbass Probie, lmfao) on that show. Terrible, terrible flaws and all, hehehe.

I know you really like it but, if you don't mind my saying so, you have this real affinity for the TV jerks of the world! LOL.

HA! It is true. I think it's 'cause even the biggest asshats (like Rocket Romano of ER) can have incredible soft sides when they choose to. But you know what I find so funny, is while what you said about me loving TV Asshats is true - we all know it, lmfao - is when it comes to RM, Sean is my favorite and he's one of the BIGGEST sweetheart characters of all the characters on ANY show that I love, honestly.

It's just funny, that in the middle of all these vile (but hilarious) men that I adore - it's the ONLY one with a good heart that I just melt over. It's almost out of character for me, hee! ;)

And I'd long since given up on ER before TES appeared.

God, what I wish I'd have missed out on TES being on ER. Sheesh. But hell, I wish I'd missed out on SEVERAL of the last seasons of that show I suffered through. LOL. That show is never going to die. I'm convinced it'll outlive me, I swear it.

*ducks*

I guess even worse than jerks, I just don't like stupid characters. And half the guys on RM are really, really dumb. Like Sean. And the Probie. I just have no patience or sympathy for either of them! If that makes me a bad person, well then, so be it. And I don't find any of them hot either. The show really is a complete wash for me, outside of Denis Leary. :-/ Well, I love Dean Winters too but he wasn't on it enough. But really, strange as it may be,I preferred Leary's short-lived sitcom, "The Job."

And I really do give a lot of shows a chance and then stop watching. Some only make it one ep, some one or two seasons. Very few have I watched to the bitter end, like Buffy. (And WOW, was that ever a bitter end! Every week I was literally yelling at my TV!) I don't see myself giving up on 24 anytime soon, but I did bail midway through S1 and then came back for the last few eps. I've been watching that one ever since.

Oh, god, they're all about brain damaged. It's just...to me, Sean is good-hearted dumb, so I can love him without bounds.

If that makes me a bad person, well then, so be it.

Not a bad person at all. Probie is "I have to call my mother to find out how old I am" RETARDED and that annoys the piss out of me. Nobody that is supposed to be a functioning adult, is that fucking stupid. It was funny, sure, but unbelievable as hell that this manchild has survived on earth this long. So I have no patience for him either.

Well, I love Dean Winters too but he wasn't on it enough.

I'm glad he's a regular now. But in a way, I kinda liked when he wasn't, because now he's getting more and more involved with their insanity, and before, he kinda got to play the anchor. Oh well. More DW vs. More Sane Johnny. I think I'd pick more DW anyway, lol.

But really, strange as it may be,I preferred Leary's short-lived sitcom, "The Job."

I don't prefer it to RM, but I *totally* love it too. So, I get where you're coming from.

And I really do give a lot of shows a chance and then stop watching. Some only make it one ep, some one or two seasons. Very few have I watched to the bitter end, like Buffy.

Well, if I get into - and I mean into a show, I'm very apt to stay until the bitter, bitter end. I have a hard time letting go before it bows out. Sometimes it can happen (See: ER) But if I just watch a few eps, I can easily cut them loose if I'm less than impressed.

It's my own damn fault when I get all pissy and angry, or even worse ambivalent (See: Lost S2) as nobody can FORCE me to stick around, but I do, because I was once upon a time, very attached.

I think I really need to learn to let go more often, lmfao, it's just that I have that whole, "Well, I've followed it this far..." feeling about shows. If I could cut my losses, I could save so much time and energy. LOL.

You know, don't laugh, but a great soundtrack to a show can totally ellivate it in my eyes, I totally notice things like that, actually that is one of my dream jobs, some sort of music supervision, you know, picking the right song for a scene..now that would be my slice of heaven.

I read a REALLY awful review for "Saved" in USA Today, so I skipped it. Still waiting to hear from the BFF (the real paramedic, LOL) if she likes it or not.

LOL. I saw that after I'd seen the first two eps. It's not the greatest show of all time, but it's definitely watchable. And since I don't watch Rescue Me, eh, why not?

BTW: Keane interview on ABCNews.com. But clueless interviewer! She calls them "Kane!"
