It's only iconic if they're going to dig themselves out in the nick of time and have to explain themselves so that we finally get a justice system going rather than Vigilante Island. Otherwise, there were eight thousand other different ways to have TLC come back to bite Sawyer in the ass. Meanwhile, I am so sick of feeling like I'm asking too much to have one single woman who doesn't make all of her ethical decisions in reflection of a man, and who doesn't have to be evil in order to get any autonomy at all. Not even equality here, I want one. In my primary fandom, I have a Triad of Win that is every bit as pretty and is every bit as open to OT3 if I'm willing to lay the groundwork down first. I'm really done thinking about Lost in any context other than, "On a scale of one to eleventy billion, just how hot was Desmond this week?"

It seems like Lost has two modes for their female characters: Boring or Bitchy. *sighs*

And word on getting sick of Vigilante Island: Ever notice it's only Sawyer who suffers the wrath of the whole tribe? Kate and Locke get mildly shunned, Ana gets a nice juicy fish, Michael got off scott-free (by a fluke), Charlie just got a beatdown but Sawyer gets tortured and now possibly banished. Blech. Can we just let go of the "Sawyer is a jerk" arc already?

Yes, Desmond was hot, but why he was he so quick to suspect Sawyer? That so doesn't count as a heated discussion - Sawyer didn't even get up. He barely even looked at Nikki. Bleah.

I guess I missed that Shannon's comment about Boone was actuality and not Shannon just being a bitch...I really didn't take that as serious because she's made jokes like that about him before, such as asking if Locke was Boone's new boyfriend. But hey...I'm slashing Boone right now with Jack and Sawyer so y'know I'm all for it!

Ahh, but I read somewhere on my flist (forget where now) that D&C have said that, yes, this was the Official Island Gay, case closed. Yeah, cheap way out of that, thanks.

But yes, hurrah for slashing Boone with Jack and Sawyer. Yayz!

I couldn't answer the first question because of the way I answered the second -- it was so soul-suckingly awful it was hilarious. I'm a sucker for gallows humor, so I have to admire how deep they went into bizarro territory. But aside from the dark comedy aspect, there was no point to that episode. It was just a great big MEH like everything else we've ever seen about Nikki and Paulo. That's two eps this season where the only redeeming quality I found was shirtless!Sawyer (the other being Sawyer's ep that I can't even remember the name of). I guess it was too much to hope for that they'd keep their winning streak going indefinitely. :/

Agreed, comletely pointless. I have no idea, apart from merely killing time, why they brough those two in. Waste of time and money. Eh, at least it's over and we're rid of those two annoying interlopers. Meh. We'll see whether they get back on track next week or not.

I know you don't like it when people hit Sawyer (and I really don't either), but he really had this one coming. It's not fair Charlie didn't get hit too (the only reason I can think that she didn't was that he was the one that confessed to her and apologized -- not an excuse, just an explanation), but that doesn't mean Sawyer didn't have his coming.

Apart from that, though, the episode was pretty darn pointless. I have to admit, though, the beginning was pretty funny. ;)

I agree he had it coming BUT what pisses me off is that no one else is ever held accountable for what they do on the island. They might get shunned or beaten up and that's it. Only Sawyer gets tortured and threatened with banishment! Meh. I'm tired of it.

Yeah, but it's only because they secretly all love his half-angry, half-hurt-puppy-dog face, as displayed so fetchingly in your icon.

...Right?

...Right?

Aw, poor Sawyer.

It was an amusing episode-but definitely a miss. There were things I liked like Shannon,S1 flashbacks and shirtless Sawyer, but Nikki and Paolo? What a fucking waste.
And I am pissed off at Lost writers like never before, because instead of fixing their mistakes, they just kill them off and what the fuck was the point of Nikki and Paolo? To show us that there were real heartless murderers on a plane?WHATEVER.

It added nothing to the show. And I HATED them inserting these two buffoons into previous events. Meh. There was no point, but hey, moving on! Even Shannon and Boone's return didn't add much, sadly, even though it was nice to see them again.

Am I the only one thinking they are not dead and will therefore come out to annoy us again?

I actually liked a few things in this episode (Shannon referring to Kate and "her 2 boyfriends", Boone, the slap -though I agree that Charlie deserves one too-, Sawyer shirtless and giving Sun the diamonds...), the whole situation was less tense that the last episodes and so it was a sort of comedy relief (even if I loved those past eps)- a dark and self-referential comedy.
But what I loved most was that after the first 5 minutes of the episode they were both already dead! But in the end I think they weren't... *sigh*

No, I'm sure they're really dead. Rodrigo gave an interview several months ago saying he was going to be killed off. And he's got a lot of other projects lined up. And Damon and Carlton have acknowledged that these characters were "universally despised," so killing them off was definitely a concession to the fans. Bringing them back would only drive away more viewers!

I'm glad they seemed dead so early on, that was kind of funny. I still wonder why they brought them in at all. Say it with me: No new characters!

*takes a deep breath*
No new characters!
There. I feel better already :)

And thanks, now I can stop rambling about the fact that they are alive and will come out zombie-like with Vincent's help.
This makes it much darker than I initially thought - I like it more.
