Eh, it was on TV, I had to run to the store. I'll definitely watch it one of these days.
Esp. given how much I love Jakey! Is it gay cowboy month yet? ;-D

Well...okay. I guess I can forgive you. ;)

Is it gay cowboy month yet? OMG have you seen the Jarhead previews? *Is so very ded*

Can I just say how much I love you for hating 2001: A Space Odyssey? I was so frickin' bored by that movie? Why do people love it so much? *bleh*

I'm kinda surprised that you haven't watched Requiem for A Dream. It's like the reason why I stopped using drugs....if I ever started using drugs. Very disturbing. You'll never look at your refridgerator the same way again. City of God was very hard to watch too.

Uhhh...just ignore that question mark in the second sentence, I meant to use an exclamation point. Hee hee??????

I loved "Pi" by Darin Aronofsky but just missed "Requiem for a Dream." Some films just slip through the cracks. (And I guess that's a drug pun, huh?)

And yeah, OMGWTF on the love for 2001? Most overrated movie EVER. When it comes to Kubrick films, I firmly believe his diehard fans have drunk the Kubrick Kool-Aid because, while he made some brilliant films, 2001 and Eyes Wide Shut are le crap and so goddamn boring it's like time has stood still while you're watching them.

OMG, Eyes Wide Shut was just so weird....and not in that good kind of weird. I guess it was trying to be mysterious and arty and whatnot but it just ended up being a total convoluted mess no one could understand. I think the only thing this movie has left behind as a legacy is that every damn rapper uses the whole orgy scene as part of their music videos now. Whatever!

Hee. I must not see enough rap videos, LOL. But yeah, way pretentious AND boring and that's just a double sin. ;-D

Aha. I bet "To Kill a Mockingbird" is one of them. It's a shameful omission on my part! I've read the book and seen the ending (and ooh, it's set at Halloween, isn't it? Poor Scout!)

Well, if it makes you fell better, I had to watch that in the ninth grade after reading the book. And I hated it, LOL! XD

OMG you hated American Beauty! Yay! I thought I was the only person in existence who hated that damn film. So freaking pretentious and dull as dishwater.
Oh and 2001 is not the most boring film ever (it's close.. second most boring maybe) that honour goes to The Thin Red Line which I had the misfortune of seeing at the cinema and I swear to Dom that I could feel brain cells dieing from dullness as it went on and on and on and on. I would have walked out but I had lost the will to live after about the first half an hour.

Good job on the film watching front! *is in awe*

Oh, totally! One thousand percent! And to think I used to *like* Kevin Spacey. Urgh, the smug Oscar speech he gave too. *vomits* He's one character actor who should not be a leading man. The family next door though, now they were interesting, like teh OMGWTF Nazi dinner plate. I really don't get the fuss over that film. I'm intrigued by Jarhead, but it's the same director so ... hmm. Here's hoping it's better! Oh wait, and he also did Road to Perdition which was also dull and looooong.

Heh. I've seen Thin Red Line too (also in the theater) and OMG _ enough with the nature shots. We get it, war is hell -- on nature! There shouldn't be atrocity amidst all the beauty. Now let's MOVE ON! That's three hours or so of my life I'll never get back. It did have a few moments here and there though - which is more than i can say for 2001.

*impressed*

It's a bit painful to watch and kind of a mindfuck, but I have to recommemd Requiem for a Dream.

I'm seeing a theme with 2001... either people hate it or never make it through the film at all. hee.

As music is to you, film is to me. ;-D Most of my good friends are diehard film nuts and I took a bunch of film classes in school and haunt festivals, restrospectives, revivals, etc. Or I used to. Now I just want to see pretty people kissing and things blowing up. (j/k)

So have you seeen 2001? I find it so incredibly, mind-numbingly dull. I'll never get what the fuss is about! But The Shining, Lolita, Paths of Glory, or The Killing - all awesome Kubrick films and of course -- Dr. Strangelove!

One of these days I'll have to see Requiem for a Dream. I think Jennifer Connelly owes her Oscar to it, in large part. ;D

Hee, no, I never made it past the monkeys. ;) Saw a few scenes from the rest of it in my college film class, but that's all. Astronauts and evil computers? Ho hum. But I haven't seen a lot of the films you're supposed to have seen... from Casablanca to American Beauty. Must amend that.
