Buffy-related Lost thought

Shannon = Jenny Calendar.

At least they both looked damn good on their last day on earth.

And maybe, like MIss Calendar, she'll be back.

ETA: Or wait ... maybe Boone was Miss Calendar and Shannon is Tara.

What with the shooting and (possible) need for revenge and all.

And wow, Miss Calendar's death was a horrible shock because I never saw it coming and they didn't promote the ep as them "losing one of their own." Gosh, that seems
like a long time ago now.

*sigh* I guess it's a good thing Buffy was never on a major network.

I think Boone was Miss Calendar and Shannon is Tara. When Tara was shot I was like WTF. And Sayid is going to be Willow. Did you see the look on his face? Ana Lucia better watch her back.

Sayid will be out for blood, definitely. Sayid vs. Ana - that will be an interesting showdown, except I think everyone else will step in to keep them apart. But we know they can both be vicious and merciless when they think it's necessary.

You know, I actually thought 'Tara' a lot lot last night. But only because she and Shannon died in that classic way where you have an increadible night with your lover and all in the world is lovely and then you get shot suddenly. Sort of a predictable formula.

I know - pretty damn predictable. *sigh* But still heartbreaking.

And Sayid is going to be Willow. Since he doesn't really have any buddies on the island and even Jack is kind of a stretch, I don't see who's going to be the bringer of yellow crayons to haul him back, either.

I think Jack will do his damnedest to talk him down - unless that role ends up being taken by Locke.

I hate to admit I'm curious to see the fallout. I almost want to be done with the show right now.

*snuggles you for citing chapter and Buffyverse*

The funny thing is that I learned about both Shannon and Tara dying from the same place. And both made me very, very sad.

I loved Tara. And I loved Shannon.

By the way, do you like my new icon? ;)

Yeah, the happy fun sex on TV so often leads to death. :-( Is it because Tara was a lesbian? (L&O joke. ;-D) Or in Shanon's case because of the fauxcest? *sighs*

You know, it's weird but I'm *not* hating Ana Lucia so much right now. I hadn't been able to care or imagine her side of things, being so all about the Sawyer, but suddenly last night, I was able to detach and agree that she at least had her reasons, misguided and selfish though they may be. In her place, Jack would *never* leave Sawyer behind of course, which only points up the difference between them. Jack cares about everyone. Ana only cares about #1.

But if she starts flrting with one of our boys, then BAM - the gloves come off again! That's something I REALLY don't want to see!

Caught that. Law & Order is one of my favorite shows. My mom watched it when I was little so I kind of grew up on it. Though I missed the episode where Serena exited and came out of the closet all in one ep.

Sex = Death. It's the long accepted horror movie rule, and has now been carried over into the Lost fandom. I guess it was that way in Buffy too. Willow and Tara got to be in bed for one whole episode, have lots of sex, and the BAM, bullet to the chest. *shakes head* I hope that's not the new golden rule on Lost, because Sawyer is sooo going to need to get laid after he gets better. I fully believe he'll be demanding it.

The 'die ana die' icon was a knee jerk reaction. I'm not going to sign up to be president of her fan club any time this century but last night, I was drunk on the anger and needed a quick outlet.

I think you're onto something here. Focus on Sawyer and that'll take my attention away from Ana. In the harsh light of day, I realize that I was overreacting last night with my knee-jerk rage, but I'm sure I wasn't alone.

Oh, don't apologize! Rage and rant away! You're entitled!

And yes, let's all focus on Sawyer. Ahhhh, that's better! ;-D

I know it's the rare sentiment, and generally has nothing to do with what you're saying, but I loathed Jenny Calendar for some reason I really can't identify. It was just true.

But actually ON topic, I really do see Shannon as a Tara. Sayid's last look at Ana was very, very Willow. And I wouldn't cry if she gets the full Warren treatment.

*sigh* And yes, the good old days, when they didn't realize they could beat the "somebody's gonna die!!!" horse to death. I wish we could go back to those days. Even for just a little while. Let the surprises, good and bad, sneak up on us once in awhile. Not beat us over the head repeatedly before it ever happen. (I'm not really talking spoilers, 'cause that's kinda our own fault, but through network hype.)

Ug, Warren. I have major Warren issues. Tara was my favorite character on Buffy, and...grr! That stupid little dipshit deserved everything he got. We can only hope that is what the future has in store for Ana.

Warren totally sucked. The other two "super villians" I really did like, even when they were doing wrong - but Warren just always seemed evil. Not just misguided.

He deserved everything he got a more.

Oh my god, when Dark!Willow was torturing him and she made Katrina come out of the bushes...oh my god I was just staring at him like 'You need to die now. Slowly.' There are no redeeming qualitites to him. He's scum and he's a murderer. Plain and simple.

Awww, really? Wow. I loved her and her death was so shocking and awful. Now take Anya .. (please! ba dum dum).

So does this mean the only thing we'll ever agree on in TVLand is the hotness of Jack and Sawyer? Oh, and Lindsey. ;-D

And god, I hate hype too. BLEAH. I think maybe if you never watched TV at all and only got on the Internet to DL eps, then *maybe* you could watch the show without being spoiled or hyped. But then you'd be missing out on fandom, wouldn't ya? *sighs*

Awww! I don't even know why I hated her so much. I just did. Usually I can come up with a thousand reasons when I hate a character - but her, it was just a steady grate on my nerves or something.

And LOL, sure the hotness of the three boys isn't the only things in all our fandoms that crisscross. It just seems that way right now, lmfao.

Gah, and yes, the hype should die. I think that's why brand new (awesome) shows are so wonderful. There's nothing to live up to, no "OMG WE NEED A RATINGS STUNT" crap, or worrying about stretching the story to fit a larger arc, just good storytelling for the time being - 'cause that ALL the have to do. They don't know if they're a hit, so they just have to do the best they can to fuel the stories they WANT to tell in case that's all the time they get. It's...innocent, almost. And you know, precious. Because it almost always slips away as the network monkeys take over. :/

Mine too! Along with Oz and Giles. Damn. That ep was so sad! So much more devastating then when Buffy's mom died, to me anyway. (I never was all that fond of her mom. :-/)

I really like the comparison. But personally, I think Shannon's death is a bit more like Buffy's mom's death, if we're going to use Buffy. I mean, both Tara and Miss. Calendar had a very profound effect on that season, where as Shannon really wont. Well, it might be too early to tell, but for the most part it looks like her death is just going to fuel some angst between the characters. Kinda like Joyce did. It is too early to tell, though. I mean, maybe there's something there that makes Shannon dying important that I just don't see yet...
