TV meme

Gakked from foxxcub

My "Everybody Loves It And I Do Too" Show: Lost. NEVER have I been more obsessed with a TV show. That includes Buffy and X-Files, which I watched religiously. But the fandom of Lost has grabbed me and taken hold and it's never far from my mind now.

My "I'll Catch It on DVD" Shows: I don't usually get caught up with shows I missed (too much new TV!) but I've been meaning to rent that slash essential, QAF.

My "I LOVE IT AND YOU SHOULD TOO" Show: Prison Break. Great writing, fast pace, ohnoyoudidn't twists! it's Oz for network TV! And although I'm not super mad hot for Wentworth Miller, I do appreciate him.

My "I Love, But Keep Missing, Dammit" Show: Probably Without a Trace. No room in the TiVo or schedule for one more show, alas.

My Guilty Pleasure Show: Hmmm. That's a real toughie. I'm generally not watching anything I'm ashamed of. Ummm, Perfect Proposal?

My "Comfort Food" Show: If I'm not going out Friday nights, I like to settle in and watch What Not to Wear. I love any makeover show, really. It's pretty much the only kind of reality TV I like.

My "I'll Never Abandon You, EVER" Show: Well, I'm not watching new eps of The Simpsons, so I *have* abandoned it, but I live for reruns. And I know WAY TOO MUCH about the series. Quote a line of dialogue and I can probably give you the episode, or at least the scene.

Sorry, but I can't resist a challenge like that!

"I am aware of the work of Pablo Neruda."

Go! :D
*runs away*

Ok. *Does this without checking snpp.com*

I believe it's Bart to Lisa during the miniature golf tournament ep.

Nov. 21st, 2005 08:19 pm (UTC)
Nope sorry! Try again!

I will say that it is a ridiculously obscure quote but it's from one of my favourite episodes and it cracks me up everytime I hear it said.

The line before it is:

Pablo Neruda said "Laughter is the language of the soul."
Nov. 21st, 2005 08:25 pm (UTC)
Aha, OK! It's during the ep where Bart sells his soul to Milhouse and Lisa brings up Pablo Neruda after Bart fails to laugh at Homer getting his head stuck in the staircase railing. ;-D

Yay! *applauds*

Ok, here's a very obscure one. You can just name the character. ;-D

"These will keep my men from resorting to homosexuality ... for about 10 minutes."

Hmmmmm, I'm gonna have to go with the Sea Captain.

Btw, is it just me or has LJ been acting really freaking weird for the past couple of days?
Nov. 22nd, 2005 01:43 am (UTC)
Sea Captain it is. Homer has just handed hm a stack of "Jugs" magazines.

Yes, LJ is very wonky. They migrated their servers so all the userpics have been fucked up. Email notification is also glitchy.

I've kinda abandoned the newer episodes of the Simpsons too but the reruns are teh shit. Sadly, I schedule my whole day around them. I can't give you a hard enough challenge (I can't think straight right now, haven't had my daily five cups of coffee yet) but I'll try to think of something.....

Can I ask you what the heck is Perfect Proposal? I've never heard of it.
Nov. 21st, 2005 08:43 pm (UTC)
Sadly, I schedule my whole day around them.

Hee. I do too, even with a TiVo. They're on at 6:00, 7:30 and 11:30 on weeknights. ;-D Used to be 11 pm but now Rock Bottom, er, I mean, A Current Affair is on at 11.

Perfect Proposal is a show on TLC where they help stage a "perfect proposal," usually by tricking the proposee into thinking they're filming an audition or documentary or some entirely different kind of reality show. Lots of "awww" moments, as you can imagine. I don't watch it all the time but I have seen a number of eps, LOL.

X-Files, which I watched religiously.

LIAR! You didn't even know who Diana Fowley was. XD
Nov. 21st, 2005 09:01 pm (UTC)
Well, by the time she came on, maybe I was watching less. Was that the black oil era? They really lost me around then. See, I can't even remember anymore. LOL.

And just illustrates the difference between merely watching a show and being immersed in the fandom, I think. Her existence was so peripheral just from a TV watching standpoint. But it was totally appointment TV for me when it was good.

Ooo! I love this game. My mom and I will be having a normal conversation and it will remind me of a line from The Simpsons. I'll rattle off the quote and she'll look at me with narrow eyes and say, "The Simpsons?". See, she doesn't like the show. My dad even decided to stop watched it when me and my brother were growing up so it wouldn't have a negetive influence on us. Yeah, that worked well. ;)

Anyway, here's your line: Ralph: Why do people run from me?

Name that scene!
Nov. 22nd, 2005 01:31 am (UTC)
Aha. I used to work with some guys who were Simpsons fanatics and we'd throw quotes at each other all the time. Good times. And my mom doesn't approve either. In fact, she makes a very Marge-like noise if it's on, LOL. Oh, the irony!

Hmmm. That's a toughie. For some reason, I'm thinking of the one where he has a playdate with Bart and Bart is walking really fast to avoid being seen with him.
Nov. 23rd, 2005 04:28 am (UTC)
Nope. That was a pretty vauge one though. It's from the one where Lisa pretends to be a college student, and she runs into Ralph and he starts talking about Miss Hoover's class. Lisa hurries her friends along and they drive off, leaving Ralph standing by the side of the road. He says, "Why do people run from me?" then promptly pees his pants. Never fails to make me laugh my ass off.

Re: OT
Hi! ;-D Oh, that's sad none of your friends are into Lost. Some of mine are, but not like my online friends. Thank God for LJ! And very nice to meet you!

Re: OT
Thanks. :)

Their reaction is mostly a pitying glance and a comment that they don't like Jack... *gets instant depression* ;)
