I think we get a new ep Dec. 14 and after that, nothing new until January. Next week is definitely a repeat.

Gah. There were SO many moments I loved about this episode, but the Kate thing?

Killed every damn one of them.

I've decided, after ranting, to reserve judgment and see if there are any further enlightments as to Kate's past, but I'm not holding out much hope.

Way to go, Lost Powers That Be. Wonderful way to fuck up a show that had had moments of absolute brilliance.

*pouts and tries to think of Keith and not fucking KATE!*

Possibly unrelated rant/train of thought, but ....

I liked Kate early on, despite her tendency to poke her nose into everything. Bad writing, I always said.

But I had an intensely huge negative reaction to Kate after WTCMB. First of all, it just didn't jibe with what they'd shown of her so far. And I HATED, HATED her after that. Started writing her as the most manipulative bitch ever. Which I eventually got over and was back to writing her sympathetically again after a while.

From a fandom viewpoint, what this ep takes away from us, is our free pass to write Kate any damn way we pleased because they had been all over the map with her. Now they've pinned her down and explained her and not very satisfactorily. (And what about the weirdness this puts on Sawyer/Kate now?)

Anymore, I look on this show as fuel for fandom, not the thing in and of itself. It's NEVER going to be satisfying enough on its own for me anymore. The little scraps they dole out? Their weird, smug love of storylines that bore the shit out of me? Their introducing new characters I CANNOT even stand to watch on screen? It's like they're TRYING to make us stop watching.

Kate's backstory, for me, doesn't begin to come close to the other ways they've fucked up the show this season. How you feel about Kate's backstory is how I feel about them shoving AL down our throats.

So I'm prepared to shrug off the aspects of the show I don't like and just enjoy the parts I do. If I couldn't do that, I would have been out long ago.

Oh and by "shrug off," of course I mean "bitch and moan about." ;-D

Or you know, just fast-forward through.

Good points, all.

You and I have disagreed about the Tailaways and about Ana Lucia in particular, but because we are sophisticated (and WAY HOT) women of the 21st century, I think we've done a damn good job of not letting that get in the way of our friendship.

GO US! w00t!

*smooch!*

Hee. And a very polite way to ask me to refrain from more AL bashing.

Can I just keep pretending AL doesn't exist? Or that she's played by someone else?
OK then! ;-D And maybe we can all pretend Kate (secretly) has better reasons for doing what she did.

And yes, I'd have to defriend several of my best friends if we had to be lockstep about everything on the show. So woo for tolerance.

And OMG! Hope you are feeling well and have a FANTASTIC time with Keith. And i am SO JEALOUS you get to meet foxxcub in person!

Hee. And a very polite way to ask me to refrain from more AL bashing.

OH NO NO NO NO! That's not what I meant at ALL. I meant that we are just so cool( ;) )that we can go different directions about a show we both love and STILL BE BEST LJ FRIENDS 4-EVAH!

No, please don't stop with the AL bashing because although I like her, it's ALWAYS good to hear other viewpoints.

Sorry if that comment read that way; obviously I was riding a high tide of emotion and was traumatized by there not being enough Jack nursing Sawyer. ;)

And, erm, when I said not thinking of 'fucking Kate?'

I meant that as in I am not thinking of fucking Kate. ;)

Even though I replied "Jack. He'll save her!" to the last question? Let me just say that Jack cannot save Kate. Neither can Sawyer. Kate has to resolve her issues on her own; essentially, she as to save herself.

Oh, I know, LOL. No one is saving anyone else. I was being completely facetious. That's just the canonical thinking behind the ships, I think.

Yes, I know...just gah, that bugs me. So many shippers say that, Jack can 'save' her, Jack can 'fix' her. The woman is not a refridgerator, and Jack ain't a preacher. ;)

Word! ;-D But the show is so obviously about redemption, at least in the long run. It's going to take everyone a long time to get there (if ever) and it is up to each of them indivdually. Of course the island is like group therapy, isn't it?

Sayid breaking down at the funeral gutted me. Naveen has been very, very good these past few weeks.

Meanwhile, much as the thought of it bothered me when the show started, I really don't mind the idea of Jack/Kate now. Hmmm.

Since I didn't have room in the 'burning issue' box to fully answer it: What are the writers going to do now that Possesed!Sawyer has jerked them away from saying that everything has a logical and scientific reason?

Yes, he has been. It would be nice if he had better acting partners in some of these scenes. *clears throat*

Was it you also who asked how they're going to explain GhostlyApparationWalt? They will probably just laugh it off if you try to pin it down. Or I guess they'll say Kate was just hallucinating and Sawyer *wasn't* actually possessed.
