Lost question

When's the last time we saw the cave set on Lost? *tries to recall*

Everyone seems to either be at the beach or in the hatch these days. Jin and Sun are on the beach now, although they had been living in the caves. (Ditto, Claire, Hurley and Charlie, right?) And we've seen Jack sleeping in the hatch (does he have permanent dibs on the lower bunk now that Sawyer's well?) So has everyone vacated the caves?

Seriously - did they lose that set? We never see anyone there anymore -- not going for water, nothin'! The last time I can recall is when Jack comes back to tell everyone they've opened the hatch.

On the most recent podcast, they talk about how they like to keep the production outdoors as much as possible, so now that they have the hatch, they alternate that with the beach. The narrative explanation was that the Lostaways feel safe because they know they can retreat into the hatch at any moment, and thus don't feel the need for the caves. It was a weak excuse, but in fairness, it does make sense for them to use that beautiful Hawaii scenery.

Thanks. I only ever listened to the first two podcasts. Guess I should listen to the ones for the eps I like!

According to the podcast, Damon and Carlton said that everyone kind of sees the Hatch as a safe haven now. Like, if something should happen where they need shelter, they know they could go to the hatch. Since they know they have that fallback, people are more likely to stay on the sunny beaches than the dreary caves.

Or something like that. The podcast from the 8th or something, the one from this past Monday, is the one with the answer I think.

Ahh. I only ever listened to the first two podcasts. So we're supposed to believe Jack has permanently decamped to the hatch? And does the hatch have fresh, running water? Nitpicky fanfic writers want to know!

I figured the caves set was in their old warehouse soundstage, so they ditched it when they moved to the real soundstage for this season. Since we haven't seen it this year at all.

It's kind of cheesy, though, all the people who used to live at the caves now seem to have moved to the beach. Wonder if Jack's getting lonely...

It makes it tough on us, trying to figure out where everyone is spending the night. Is Jack in the hatch every night? And if he's got the bunk all the time, is that fair? Or is he still in the caves? And I don't recall ever seeing Kate's tent. We fanfic writers are far more concerned with the day to day that the show, LOL.

I kind of figured everyone spent their mornings out on the beach and went to the caves to sleep after dark. Haven't heard that podcast thing. I miss the caves though. Especially in daylight, they were pretty.

Yeah. I guess the caves got the heave-ho for the hatch. But Jack was so dead-set on the caves and not too gung-ho on the hatch, but that's the only place we've seen him sleeping. Eh. I don't know. Guess it's like how we never see Jack Bauer go to the bathroom on 24.

And yes, the caves were pretty. ;-D And so does the hatch have its own water supply or are they still traipsing over there for water refills? Inquiring fanfic writers want to know!

You know, I've been thinking for awhile now that the hatch was partly an excuse for them to be able to stop using that separate cave set. Make sense. Although, when I read cave!fic now it makes me sad... :(

Hmmm. Guess they couldn't afford both sets? And yeah, I miss the caves too. We know everyone is sleeping on the beach -- but Jack, right? Did he win the lottery to always get the lower bunk? And so the top bunk goes to waste? They just haven't reasoned it, have they? Not like us writers who have to figure out details like that. Like, for instance, have we ever seen Kate's tent? I don't think we ever have!
