BAFTA Awards

Cut in case anyone is going to watch the show on TV and wants to be surprised.

JAKE WON!!! And Brokeback Mountain won Best Picture! Hurrah! Also Ang Lee won and the screenplay won! ;-D

ETA: Awwww, just saw Jake won. He looked soooo surprised! And was so adorably dorky when he accepted. And yes, Heath looked very happy for him. And I also adored Stephen Fry saying "I waxed for him. I hope he noticed." He got the most glowing intro so far. I think Stephen has a crush. ^__^

In other news, I'm as bored as I've ever been in my life. I don't think any song, movie, book, TV show, fic, food or drink is going to take care of it. *sighs* :-/ And everyone seems to be out of town. Bleah. I guess I'm going to just have to clean the house.

ETA: Watching the BAFTA Awards now. Love the electronica they're using as lead-in and lead-out music. Nice. Also didn't realize James McAvoy was Scottish. Stephen Fry = always funny.

HUGS to foxxcub.

Is this boredome thing just going around?! I swear to God, this weekend was probably the most boring of my life. I got zero things done.

Oh, yay! for the flick AND Jake. Good for him.

Totally feeling you on the boredom front, though. I've watched about 4 movies...Oh, well.

I should go to the video store, I guess, but it's probably quite picked over by now.

i think it's the right time for you to watch BSG. I recommend the last two season one episodes (Kobol Last Gleaming) or the season 2 two parter "Home".

Well, I'm almost always on IM, if you want someone to chat with, (IM name is in my info). Always welcome a chat.

Right now, I'm just drinking tea and waiting in vain for 10 o'clock and Grey's Anatomy.

Awww, I ended up getting wrapped up in the BAFTAs after all. And GA was good but Meredith apparently doesn't have an ounce of common sense. *sighs*

I'll go look up your IM name and add you. ;-D

Oh good, then it's not just me who was thinking this was the longest, most boring-est weekend EVAH! And it didn't help that it was like -6 degrees yesterday (and yes, -6 was the actual temperature and not the wind chill). *bleh*

On the good news front, yay for Jake! And yay for BBM! Oscar voters (and Heath Ledger), take note: Jake is on the ballot for Best Supporting Actor!

Brrr! Glad I live on the West Coast! But yes, boring, boring, BORING!

And hurrah for Jake!! Yes, Oscar voters, please take note, LOL. And Heath too, heh.

I'm sooooo pleased for Jake! He looked completely shocked and his speech was so cute - he just looked so delighted and baffled at being up there! And Stephen Fry's intro was great, especially Jake's face while he was saying it! Hee

Oh yeah, the whole evening was pretty Jake-riffic. ;-D I'm so happy for him!

Although, as someone pointed out, the race was really different at the BAFTAs. George Clooney was nominated twice, so cancelled himself out, same with the two actors from Crash. In the Oscar race, I think George might triumph in this cateogry or Paul Giamatti (who people might throw a vote to since he didn't get nominated for Sideways last year) might win.

I completely agree, and think George Clooney will take it, but I'll still have everything crossed for Jake on the night, and probably all the ones leading up to it!

Whoo!

Same here on the boredom front. This weekend wins a prize for being most boring. Gah! It didn't even help when I rented a bunch of movies.

I didn't even bother going to the video store. It didn't seem like it would help! At least there's a new 24 tonight!

How amusing is it that after all my bitching about not being able to see most award shows, I didn't watch the BAFTAs! Oh well... Oscars soon, hurrah! *begins hoarding snacks for all night viewing session*

I too am bored as hell, I have these lovely days off and no interest in filling them with anything... ah, sods law, dontcha just hate it when in strikes. I however, refuse to give in to the house cleaning thing. *stamps foot* I won't do it, I won't.

*snogs randomly*

Awww! You missed Stephen Fry gushing effusively and poking fun by turns, LOL. He makes a great host. He compared the whole evening/organization to a school term and at the end sent everyone off to do whatever they wanted behind the bike sheds.

And surprisingly, the honorary award to producer Lord Puttnam, which started off very dull - there's a reason why the Oscars puts those in midway in the show, as opposed to making it the finale -- was so moving that he made nearly everyone in the audience cry, including William H. Macy. He cited the last scene in "The Sixth Sense," where Toni Collette finds out her mom was proud of her and he said he knew his late father, who never saw him win anything, was proud of him too. *sniffles* That doesn't really convey much, but it did choke everyone up.

And hee, I *did* end up cleaning a bit! Seems a little doggie chewed a ballpoint pen and got ink *everywhere* and I cleaned the floor several times with no success in getting it out. *sighs* She tracked that darn ink everywhere!
