Supernatural question

How's everyone's weekend going? ;-) LJ's not *quite* as dead as I thought it would be. Yay! Hope everyone is staying cool, hkath in particular!

I just rewatched the Supernatural ep "Home" and I think I noticed a plot continuity error.

At the end of the ep, Missouri tells John that Sam's powers are very strong, so she's surprised he didn't sense his own father. But in "Salvation" (I think), John finds out about Sam's visions for the first time and is mad that Sam held out on him. So that shouldn't be news to him! Unless he was just mad because Sam never told him, but that's not how that scene played, IIRC.

I love Missouri. I hope she comes back. I love how she keeps sassing Dean.

Um...all that I can really say to that is that plot is not SPN's strong point.

I hope that Loretta Devine comes back, too. She and Jensen had such a fun chemistry between them. Why can't Jensen ever play so well off of the girls that he's supposed to be attracted to?

Hee. And they were doing so good, LOL. Oh well. It doesn't really damage my appreciation for the show and the characters. And I felt the same way about the female sheriff in "The Benders." She brought much more to the table than Cassie ever did! (Not that I'm shipping her and Dean! Just that I enjoyed her character a helluva lot more.)

I thought the same thing (have been rewatching like crazy this past week), but my first fandom was BtVS, so I'm used to continuity errors.

I love Missouri, and the little glimpses of backstory she brought with her. I hope she pops up in season two.

It's not a big issue, but I did go, "Hang on a minute!" LOL. At least we know that it's not just Lost that makes stuff up on the fly.

And I agree, having Missouri back would rock. ;-) Has she been in fic a lot, that you know of?

Not that I know of, but I'm mostly reading RPS and car!porn, so she's not likely to pop up in either of those. I'll keep an eye out though :o)

I don't think Missouri flat out told him Sam has visions did she? I don't think she knew that about him either, only that he could sense stuff better than her and she didn't go into the kind of power Sam had when she was telling John but I could be wrong.

What she said was, "That boy. He has such powerful abilities. Why he couldn't sense his own father, I have no idea."

(And John doesn't address the topic, just asks her about Mary's spirit.)

So John had to know that Sam has "abilities," if not necessarily visions, you're right. But still, the revelation later shouldn't come as complete surprise. Oh well, not a bit deal, LOL.

No, I agree. Must be a mistake on the writing part I guess. I've watched those episodes quite a few times and never noticed it, good eye LOL. :)

Thanks! ;-) Maybe they can't afford a story editor?

Maybe even the editor made a mistake. They should hire you! ;)

Yeah it's a huge plot hole. Unless we take into account that Sam doesn't actually have 'visions' yet, he just has prophetic dreams.
And I like Loretta Divine but hate Missouri. She's a bitch to Dean and constantly put him down and took digs at him while coddeling Sam. Which I'm sorry but if ever there were an episode that should've been about Dean it was 'Home'. He's the one old enough to remember what happened that night and all the good that came before it. For Missouri to be so vicious and nasty to him is cruel.

Aww, really? It's funny, but a kind of similar character, Rose on Lost, bugs the hell out of me. She's so preachy and only pops up to be sassy or pray with someone. But I really liked Missouri! I guess I can take spirituality better if it's not of the shove-it-down-your-throat church kind. Or I just resent the way they only use Rose if they want to have more religious storylines. Of which they have PLENTY! LOL.

And awww, I thought Missouri was really fond of Sam and Dean, even motherly.

Hee, I haven't watched Lost in so long I damn near forgot about Rose but I can see that!
IMO Missouri liked Sam and only saw Dean as a tool to protect Sam. Nothing more.
