Emmy nominations

So just got up and saw the noms. (What? I was up late last night!)

They snubbed Lost, which shouldn't come as a big surprise. Yes, it won last year but S2 was definitely nowhere near as good as S1. Still, is it a better show than The Sopranos? HELL YEAH. The Sopranos is the most overrated show in the history of television. I can't believe it's still getting good reviews at this stage in its life. It's dull, incredibly pretentious, talky and pointless. I got HBO again just for its return but stopped watching before the end of this season. Face it folks, it's a shadow of the show it used to be. I've personally never cared much for House or West Wing. *shrugs* So, despite my problems with Lost this year, I'd still put it in there ahead of those two shows.

But I'm excited that 24 is getting a lot of love, not only for Kiefer but for the magnificent acting of Gregory Itzin & Jean Smart. I do wish Reiko Aylesworth had gotten a nom for S3, dammit, but if they were going to start recognizing supporting players, this is a good year to do it.

Also, Desmond!!! ;-) Yay! And Christina Yang. Those nominations make me happy.

And I had to give foxxcub a call just now to let her know that her boy, Christopher Meloni, got a nomination at long last. YAAAY! ;-)

You know how I feel about the Sopranos, seriously, I didn't even watch half this season and to be honest, they waited too long for the season to start..and yet, Deadwood gets cancelled.

They cancel Rome, I think the cable company is going to get a call.

BUT YAY!!! 24, I just saw that Jean got a nomination, she so SO deserves it, and really, that show is just so damn good, I'm so happy I started watching it.

And Chris, it's about freakin' time..I've been waiting for this since the all time best season ever of Oz..Season 3.

I don't watch Grey's, and to be honest, if it didn't win anything, I wouldn't be heartbroken at all, I'm sick of all the Dr. McDreamy stuff..but I do have to say I'm torn between Kyle and Henry for best guest star.

I don't get the continued love affair with The Sopranos. It's OVER and it's been over for a long time. Really, it only had about two good seasons.

The 24 noms made me very happy. Jean Smart absolutely deserves it. She's terrific in everything I've ever seen her in.

I agree Meloni is long overdue for some recognition!

Grey's is a good show. Not the best on TV, but very watchable. I'd have to give the award to Henry because Kyle was only in one two-part episode and only had a few scenes. Henry was a much bigger presence on Lost and did a much better job, I think.

Everything you've said about The Sopranos? WORD. I stopped watching after they killed off Adrianna ... that, in my mind? One of the last good eps that show has churned out, tight writing, and her swansong was emotional and shocking without being melodramatic. Too bad this whole season wasn't treated with the same care. Argh.

And big-up! to teh Meloni ... accolades for him are loooong overdue *fangirl squee!*

Oh totally. Adrianna's storyline kept me hooked through last season but when she was gone? You realized how dull and pointless the rest of it is. All these boring supporting characters we don't give a crap about getting their own episodes? NO THANKS!

Yay for Meloni! I hope he wins. ;-) Kiefer's already got a few trophies on his shelf.

"The Sopranos" are still on?Really?I never understood why this show is so damn popular.
I'm not surprised at all that LOST is not nominated.I'm a bad fangirl, but they deserved the nomination this year.Though,I'm surprised that no actors were nominated-no Josh:(

I'm very happy for Chris Melonie,of course and way to go,Des!

The Sopranos was very good the first two seasons, but honestly, back then, I was more into Oz. That was much more riveting of a show, if you ask me.

Aww, as long as Josh is as sexy as he is, he'll never get any awards recognition. It's the way these things seem to work. Except for Meloni, LOL. But then again he's not viewed as a "sex symbol" as much in the industry, I think.

Sopranos were never my thing.I tried to watch, but Oz was rocking hard back then:)

Chris got his first nom after 10 years or so of amazing job on every single role?Josh has time:)

I can't say I'm terribly surprised. I was excited when the show won last year (when it was a better show...what...I didn't say that), but the Emmy's have never meant that terribly much to me so I'm not that...sad, I guess. But I still think it deserved a nomination. I'm not surprised it didn't get one and I don't think it should win, but it should have been in there. Because even when it's bad, it's still better then most crap on TV.

As someone who never watched "The Sopranos" I can't really comment. I never got the show to begin with, so...I really thought it had it's hay-day a three or four years ago.

They changed some of the voting rules this year, so I think maybe that's why Lost is out. That and a (perceived) drop in quality and maybe a backlash against ABC for last year? I'd rather it was in the running that three of the Best Drama noms, but hey, that's me.

The Sopranos is loooong past its heyday. But then again, so is The West Wing, from what I understand. I was never a fan of that show (it's so damn TALKY!) so I never got why it kept getting all the awards recognition. At least this is the last year it can qualify.

I'm finding it highly amusing that everyone knows all about foxxcub's obsession. Team Stabler!

I hate HBO. That whole network is so overrated. *bleh*

I think you'd have to be living in a cave not to know of her love for the Meloni! ;-)

And yeah, ever since SATC went off the air, HBO hasn't been worth watching. SFU was good for a while, but wow did that start sucking before the end. I started hating all the characters, well, OK, mostly fucking Nate, to the point where I never want to see Peter Krause in anything else! Talk about your whiny navel-gazing assholes!

And I had to give foxxcub a call just now to let her know that her boy, Christopher Meloni, got a nomination at long last.

Were your ears bleeding after she squealed? ;-)

Sopranos was a huge let down this season. I've gotten into Big Love though (Okay, I'm majorly hooked) so I'm going to keep the channel. Mormons should never be more interesting than the mob but...meh!

Awww, I only got her voicemail, so my eardrums are safe for now, LOL.

Sopranos was a bust. Has been last few years, apart from the Adrianna storyline. I watched a few eps of Big Love and yeah, definitely better than Sopranos these days. Sexier too!

*isn't at all bitter that MISS DESIGNING WOMEN got nominated over MARY O'DONNELL*

HOW WAS foxxcub?! DID SHE SOUND HAPPY? DOES SHE KNOW HOW MUCH I MISS HER?

I got her voicemail. :-( But I imagine there was much squeeing on her end!

She did call me the other day and sounds like she's having fun, jet skiing and stuff. ;-) Is it Saturday yet?

This time of year always makes me wallow because John C. McGinley NEVER gets nommed and it breaks my heart. It's like it affects me personally. Heh.

But seriously, Sean Hayes again? But no Johnny C? What a crock of shit.

However, I was extremely happy to see that the SPN pilot got nods - even if it was for music/sound editing only. It still made me *squee*, as we all know the WB is notorious for getting completely overlooked.

Will & Grace. *sigh* At least this the last year it can be in the running.

I didn't look at all the technical nods, but yay for SPN getting some recognition! ;-) And yes, the WB always got shafted at Emmy time. What else is new?!

When you said they snubbed Lost, I thought you meant snubbed COMPLETELY, and I was about to have a shitfit. But there were some directing/writing/technical nods. *Phew*

The Sopranos is incredibly overrated and fucking DITTO the West Wing. *Snorts*

I was cheering for the Meloni nom too! So glad he finally got his due. :)

I didn't look at all the technical things. I'm glad Henry Ian Cusick got a nod as I thought Desmond was a great character and I was surprised beyond words to actually love his backstory. Who knew?!

Word on everything else. ;)

What's your icon of? Something comic booky? X-Men?

Heh, I just scanned the list looking for noms of shows that I actually like. Supernatural even got one for sound mixing. :D

And yeah, that's Gambit and Rogue. I'm feeling very comic booky here lately. ;) I guess because X3 let me down so, I needed to retreat into the good canon-ness.

*Matches your Desmond icon*

Yay for random technical nominations. ;-)

Aha. I have to agree that X3 was a real comedown. And I have no desire to see Superman Returns. Why Bryan, why?

And hurrah for Drinky!Desmond.

PoTC I'm guessing by your Depp icon? ;) Yeah, me too, but the hubby has informed me that he'll chew tin foil for fun before he goes to see that. ;)

I'll admit that Bosworth is not on my favorite (I mean, seriously, what has she done other than be Orlando Bloom's girlfriend?) and Marsden needs to find a job OTHER than that of 'the other boyfriend,' but visually? It was really stunning.

Well, turns out hubby is right. BLEAH. :-(

I don't see how Superman Returns couldn't be better. Hell, X3 was better!!
