The famed fourth episode...

Dear Ianto,

I watched the episode that was supposed to make me love you and nope, not feeling it. Not only are you not at all my type, but I was pretty much rooting for Jack to shoot your sorry, stupid ass! You endangered all their lives over and over! So you'll just come back to work like nothing happened? Gah! Who would ever trust you now?

No love,
Halfdutch

P.S. Still feeling the Gwen/Jack.

yes, I am going to still attempt fic tonight!

Thankyou, I've finally found somone who doesn't love Ianto. I get that he loved Lisa, but to put not only his whole team at risk, but the world, is just too selfish to be attractive in any way. And while I'm personally not a Gwen/Jack shipper I can definitely see the appeal. She is one of my favorite characters in the Whoverse.

I think having this episode basically be our introduction to Ianto was an odd choice since all we know about him is that he's willing to betray everyone he works with and is too stupid to realize the woman he loved is long gone. If we'd seen him working hand in hand with them all beforehand (I guess he's just the office boy?) maybe I might have felt a little more sympathetic towards him. As it was, he just came off as a selfish twat, agreed.

Gwen is pretty cool. It's such a treat to encounter a well-written female character on TV. They're so damn rare! As a friend pointed out, British TV does so much better by women, like with MI:5.
