Film noir fic challenge?

Gilda being on TV (and being one of the best ambisexual OT3 films ever) made me think that a film noir fic challenge might be a great idea. Assuming a) enough people have seen classic film noirs and b) would be up for the challenge of adapting them to a particular fandom. It might not go over so well but hey, I'm bored and thus I poll!

ETA: I'd probably run it like Lost Horror Stories, with a list of films you could claim, but it would be multifandom.

I have so many challenges in the works right now, I don't know if I'd be able to fit it in. Maybe after Christmas? A lot of people are signing up for Xmas challenges right now (Yuletide is coming up, too, not to mention NaNo), so. But it's your call! I'd be totally for signing up in a few months. :)

Yes, and Lost Horror Stories are due October 31. I was thinking I could start signups now and not have entries due until February or something! Or I could just wait. I don't even know which film I'd like to rewrite myself and I'm so behind in writing fic of any kind!

Aha, I'm a bit torn as well! I mean, can there be a good Lost version of The Maltese Falcon? Heh.

I wouldn't mind seeing a fic where Jack keeps getting tattoos as the only way to remind him of what happened on the island, though!

I can recommend some films if you want to dip your toe in. :)

And thanks for the vote of confidence! I think the deadline would have to be far away, rather than ask anyone to take on yet another challenge this time of year!

Would February be far enough away? :) Anything I started now would probably languish with such a far-off deadline but now I'm kind of intrigued with the idea. (Even if I have no idea which claim I'd want for myself!)

I'm afraid I don't know enough about film noir to do it justice. Maybe if I wasn't stupid and could think of specific examples. I like the idea of the challenge (because it'd really be a challenge), but I'm not sure if I could pull it off. Hell, I'm having doubts about my Lost Horror piece and if there's one thing I know is Edgar Allan Poe.

I swear I had a point, but somehow I lost it right after I hit "post comment". I'm sorry :(

That's okay, hon. I'm not sure it's really doable. I was just looking over a list of classic film noirs and I think most of them are probably too obscure. I'm going to have to tinker with the idea, definitely. Or just post a huge list and know that 90% of the films will go unclaimed.
