Can I just add my voice to the chorus of "WOO HOO"s that JK Rowling says DUMBLEDORE IS GAY! :)

Fandom was right! :) (Not that I'm in HP fandom, but still!)

I know I did! It's so awesome she confirmed it! :)

I know, it's neat, eh? What's funny is that I had...NO reaction to this whatsoever. No 'Whoo-hoo!' and no 'OMGWTF' just 'Really? Oh, okay. Huh. Well. Now the Christians have one more ridiculous reason to say her books are of THE DEVIL!' :-/ (Can you tell I have issues with the backwards Bible-thumping 'We're the only ones going to heaven' small-town inhabitants that surround me? Yeah.)

You know, what I am whoo-hooing for is Rowling classily lifting her hand and oh-so-daintily extending her middle finger to those that won't like it. That woman is awesome on many many levels. :P

Y'know, I there *must* be a subset of her readers that's okay with magic but not gayness. It seems like a lot of the people who are all "Oh noez! Magic!" would have a problem with this revelation but then they're not reading it already!

And yes, JKR is totally classy and awesome. ;) Still not loving the epilogue though, LOL.

I'm not in that fandom either; I lmao. Yesterday was a good day. XD

Not in the fandom but I definitely read the books and my gaydar went off, LOL! But then, when doesn't it? :)

I'm no Potter follower but did she just pull this out of her ass or were there signs in the book that hinted to this? I sorta went *huh?* when I heard about it. I can just imagine the Christian Right's brains exploding as I type. Lolz!

Actually, yes, it was definitely hinted at. He had a youthful relationship with another wizard that was just platonic but very intensive and exclusive. They thought they would change the world together, basically and then they had a dramatic falling out.

I tend to think that the Christian Right is already avoiding the book due to the "black arts" and all, LOL. I suppose she's lost a few more readers but y'know, she's made her millions already and he's a character who's beloved around the world.

I'm so dumb at seeing this things...
I wasn't expecting it, but it sort of makes sense. And though I don't really care about Dumbledore's sexual preferences (it's not like he's a hot guy I can slash, after all) it's nice that such an important character is revealed to be gay. It's good for the cultural progress, I think.

But there's a thing I don't like. I don't want JKR starting to say out loud everything that was implied in her books: this way she keeps changing the canon and diminishing the mysteries that I loved. And ok, she's the inventor and "owner" of canon, but still... What if next year she decides to tell us that Luna is McGonagall's secret daughter or something like that? Yeah, I'm probably being paranoid. Still, I wish she would stop.

oh, btw, I've just noticed you friended me! Thank you! *twirls*

I think it's a very good thing. It's like finding out that one of the Star Wars characters was gay! (Although, I totally grew up with those, so I can't ever get into slash in that fandom! Not Luke and Han, anyway!)

Hmm, I get you on her retroactively explaining herself. Again, it's a bit like George Lucas tinkering with Star Wars after the fact. I think the work should stand on its own, true. But I don't mind knowing more of what she had in mind.

And yes, I was looking at my friends and realized I hadn't friended you back yet and decided it was overdue! :) ♥
