Sawyer/Kate. Prompt: A fairy tale like White Wings. This is inspired by one of my favorite fairy tales, which is a variation of Cupid & Psyche (aka Beauty and the Beast.)
She stretches out her hand but Sawyer is just beyond reach. "I'm sorry," she cries, but it is too late. His gaze is sorrowful he steps backward into shadow, a glint of the wild beast, the creature from whose wicked shape she tried to free him, in his blue eyes.
There is a tremendous crash, as of thunder, and she falls into a swoon.
She wakes in the middle of an empty field, her clothes ragged, her eyes red from weeping. Gone is the house, the island, Sawyer, everything.
"I will find him," she vows, although she does not know how.
Kate/Alex, an update on Circumstance, knowing what we now know about Alex.
Kate fascinates her. She is strong -- they've all had to be, to survive here -- but she is both more beautiful and more fragile than any woman Alex has ever known.
Even though the video image is grainy, Kate's shoulders are clearly shaking as Alex watches. She's crying. It might be the kind of trick her father has warned her about, an obvious ploy for sympathy.
Kate turns, her tear-stained face now visible to the camera. No, Alex decides. She cannot know anyone is watching because she would not cry if she did.
Already she knows Kate better than her father does.
