Oh Christ!

Alex! Oh, damn, poor bachlava! (If, hon, you watched at all!)

So that's how Sayid started to work for Ben! Anyone else do a total doubletake on the first use of the word "wife?"

And I love fierce!protective!Sawyer. Finally he has something to do besides play board games and horseshoes! And hey, who's a Sawyer/Claire shipper, among the writers?

I can't believe how badass Ben is. I think he stole every ounce of Locke's badass mojo. But still, no one is more of a badass than Sayid. Have to admit I laughed when Ben said, "I think that'll do" after Sayid emptied his pistol into that guy. And when Sayid looked up and saw Ben taking his photo. Great moment.

And fuck, Penelope. Wow. Okay, should I be pissed that women really ARE being used as pawns on this show? No daughter or wife is safe! Fuck, it's like Bonanza! Marrying a Cartwright (or Sayid) is a sure death sentence. That man will never be lucky in love.

And shit, I can't believe the body count in the last two eps. I guess they teased the heck out of the "someone will die" for the last ep before hiatus, so they didn't this time, unless I missed it entirely. Because I don't think there's any way Alex is coming back from that.

And we know that Jack will be fine, right?

ETA: Shit. I really liked Alex. I... get that this sets a lot of wheels in motion but, damn. :-/ Will ANYONE be left alive at the end of the series?

ETA: #2 -- So Kate and Sun are immune from the "all women die" curse -- because they have babies to take care of? We don't know yet what's up with Juliet, of course. But unless she's got an infant to mother, she's doomed! And Penelope, better get pregnant, stat!

Okay, you get the prize for the BEST COMPARISON ever..Lost being like Bonanza, and you're right, marrying a Cartwright was a sure death sentence. I feel bad for Alex though, but in a way, it's like that whole bloodline was on the bullet train for destruction.

Ben is badass..see Sayid is badass-we know, but Ben has that creepy stealth badassness that's more sociopathic scary than Sayid's just full on badassness.

For me, it was just nice to actually SEE Sawyer.

(as you can see, I fell asleep just after it aired and now I'm freakin' going to be up for the rest of the night *sigh*)
Apr. 25th, 2008 07:18 am (UTC)
Ha, well the Cartwright analogy also applies to the Winchesters, doesn't it? When your show's leads are men, the women in their lives are completely expendable. And Lost's only lead female who gets a free pass is Kate, and I suppose, Sun. Because they have to live to take care of babies! Oops, now I'm getting a bit bitter!

I will miss Alex, dammit. That was just ... gah.

And it WAS damn good to see Sawyer. Finally DOING something!

I'm so glad I was spoiled. I'd have been a mess otherwise.

Damn, Alex. *sighs* I mean, I've lost every possible hope.

And I love fierce!protective!Sawyer. Finally he has something to do besides play board games and horseshoes! And hey, who's a Sawyer/Claire shipper, among the writers?

YAY SAWYER! He finally did something! I'm not of the Sawyer/Claire ship though, but I loved him here. He was the best thing about this really.

I preferred when Locke was the badass mojo, to be sincere. I still can't get behind Ben as a good guy. he just doesn't work for me. And Sayid! *cries* though erm, Shannon? I mean.

Sayid needs to leave women and pass on men. Maybe he'll have more luck ;) though I don't really thing they are ever killing Penny. Not before she and Des get a reunion anyway. I think it was just for effect, but well, I wouldn't punt a thing past them.

Well, Jack was rescued so I guess he'll be fine ;)

Will ANYONE be left alive at the end of the series?

And I sincerely hope that both Juliet and Penny become pregnant ASAP at this point. *sigh*
Apr. 28th, 2008 07:00 am (UTC)
Wow, I SO did not see that coming. AT ALL. I was still holding out hope that Danielle was coming back, actually. :-/

And yeah, Sawyer was the best part of the ep, no doubt. Although I do love a righteously pissed-off Sayid too. And ha, you have the perfect solution! If the island doesn't kill the babymaking women, the baddies will make sure that all the others are wiped out in order to inspire even MORE killing.

Yeah, I'm joking about Juliet and Penny being pregnant -- it seems that's the only way to avoid the grave, though. :-/

I hope you're shocked in a good way - I've sworn off not only canon, but also reading recaps and responses. (Yes, I'm that mad about 4x08.) Haven't sworn off fanon, though... Anyway, right now I'm just trying to spread any necessary sympathy and support.
Apr. 28th, 2008 07:04 am (UTC)
Glad you're still around, hon! I'd understand if you weren't!

And the killing spree is just crazy. Of the women, only moms get to live, it seems. And then the women who are killed spark MORE killings. I remember being really pissed at Sayid for forgiving Ana so quickly for killing Shannon. But is it better if he starts killing everyone responsible for Nadia's death? At one point, I thought they were each going to leave the island with their considerable life baggage somewhat lightened and that they really were all getting a second chance. How wrong I was!

Guess Darlton's a lot more Old Testament than we thought!

Oh, and I like your new header!
Apr. 28th, 2008 07:04 am (UTC)
Merci! :) New photos make me happy!

I liked Alex too, and I screamed when she got killed. What was Ben thinking? I know he was trying to save himself, but he was just stupid to say he wasn't her real father. I did however, cry when he was crying after she died. He did love her.
And I panicked when Claire's house got bombed. I was thinking, "If Claire dies I'm not going to watch the show again. Claire is one of my favorite characters. Glasd she's okay.
Ben WAS badass tonight and I'm starting to like his character. He used to creep me out, but not much anymore. He's a great character.
And Nadia was Sayid's wife? I didn't know that. You learn a lot from this show.
And wasn't Kate taking care of Aaron in the flashforward a few episodes back? That means Claire didn't make it off the island.
This season, IMHO, is good. I can't wait until next week.
Apr. 28th, 2008 07:28 am (UTC)
There is really no way a loving father would act as he did, imho. Ben is a very, very warped fellow. I can't say I'm ever going to root for him but I have been enjoying him this season. I think I like him more as snarky prisoner than cruel puppet master, though! And Locke, man, Locke should just go on a vision quest alone already. Meh.

And I guess we're waiting to see if Claire dies or if there's some reason she has to stay on the island. There's spec that there's a compelling reason why some people are leaving and some aren't. I am curious to know when we're getting the farewell scene with the Oceanic Six. And to see what happens to those left behind I really don't know what to expect but I hope we're not kept hanging until next season!

Apr. 25th, 2008 10:16 am (UTC)
I love Sayid. And Ben. And I love them together.

I just watched the episode and I'm still trying to process all the information, but WOW, just wow.

(I love your new header, btw!!!)
Apr. 28th, 2008 07:29 am (UTC)
I don't trust Ben farther than I could throw him but together he and Sayid are quite ruthless. Sayid has enough humanity in him to be manipulated, though. Ben clearly doesn't or he would have sacrificed himself to save Alex.

And glad you approve of the header!
Apr. 25th, 2008 01:00 pm (UTC)
Fuck, it's like Bonanza!

Indeed. Circle the wagons and hid the women. Misogyny is on the loose. Everyone woman needs a personal Sawyer to rescue their asses.

I hope this show ends with Sayid emptying his gun into Ben. As interesting as Linus is, he has ruined so many lives to ever be considered the good guy.

Poor Alex, poor, poor brave Alex.
Apr. 28th, 2008 07:41 am (UTC)
Ha, no one's been taken out with a flaming arrow yet but you just know it's going to happen. (Now I have a Lost/Bonanza crack!fic in mind... Noooooo!)

I hope this show ends with Sayid emptying his gun into Ben.
Agreed. Him or Desmond. Or Juliet. Srsly, there are so many takers. Maybe it'll be Jack? Because no way am I rooting for that psychopath.
Apr. 25th, 2008 08:15 pm (UTC)
I just watched some of it this afternoon. Haha at the Bonanza Syndrome. Too True.

I really didn't like how they offed Alex. I'm surprised the censors let that one by. Not too many executions by gunshot to the head gets through on network television. And of course, it had to be another woman. But this time in the head, instead of the gut. There's something very very wrong with these producers. I only hope when Ben gets his, its a royally spectacular comeuppance.

It was nice to see Sawyer again, even if all he did was run around with a gun.
Apr. 29th, 2008 06:35 am (UTC)
Hee, it SO is Bonanza! :)

I think only 24 gets away with this level of random violence, usually. Maybe they're taking maximum use of the later time slot?

And yeah, I'll take Sawyer running around with a gun at this point! At least it's not horseshoes again!
Apr. 25th, 2008 08:49 pm (UTC)
I am starting to worry that there wont be anyone standing at the end! seriously. I was/am totally unspoiled, so every single death and big twist has me going OMG! on the other hand, the show ends and that's it though. I guess it's a survival tactic for my sanity that I am not involved anymore.
Apr. 29th, 2008 06:36 am (UTC)
Yeah, it's starting to seem like they're really going to kill EVERYONE. Except maybe Jack and Kate. And good thing you're detached, except it's sad that you need it as a survival tactic! Lost is a real rollercoaster ride, definitely, and the downs are never fun!
Apr. 25th, 2008 10:12 pm (UTC)
I find this one very shocking as well, but it moved the story forward in an interesting way - save for Alex. I'm so sad about that.

It was intriguing to see how Sayid started working for Ben. I totally think Ben time-traveled there on purpose to be at the funeral and therefore recruit Sayid. And I'm glad that Sayid and Nadia had their little piece of happiness, though short. I was worried he would never find her, or find her dead.

Loved Sawyer in this. He had good scenes, and I liked everything he did, he did the right choices, from challenging Ben and Locke to saving Claire to try to protect Hurley but then letting him go as he chose.

"I think that'll do" made me lol as well. Also Dan's "when is kind of a relative concept". *g*

The body count is really too high - I guess this is in part caused by the shortening of the season. Still... no woman can feel safe over there, save for Kate and Sun.

And I'm irrationally worried for Jack, too, even if we know he'll be all right. I can see plot bunnies reproducing themselves in my mind if Sawyer gets back to the beach and Jack is still sick.. *dreams*
Apr. 29th, 2008 06:44 am (UTC)
I'm going to miss Alex. I was still hoping that danielle wasn't really dead. Dammit, why can Patchy survive multiple murder attempts but Alex and Danielle can't? *fumes*

Sawyer was great - I love him in protective mode although I have HATED him being sidelined in Locke Village. Bleah. So glad he's heading back to the beach.

And Jack has to be okay because we know he survives in the future! Unless the timeline is more screwed up than we thought!

And how sad is this: It wasn't until I read your comment that I even realized we might have J/S scenes again! I'm so used to doing without! Darn writers always splitting them up!
Apr. 26th, 2008 12:02 am (UTC)

Flash!Forward Sayid and Ben were totally MADE of badass. As was Sawyer on the island.

As for the rest...uh. WTF, show?
Apr. 29th, 2008 06:46 am (UTC)
It's kind of hard to follow Ben's morphing from dweeby toad to badass assassin! I like him best when he's the snarky underdog, I think. Please tell me they do not want us to ROOT for the guy?

And yes, finally Sawyer in action! Yeah!
Apr. 26th, 2008 03:26 am (UTC)
Ben and Sayid are awesome! Loved this epi but I am SO SO tired of tptb and their issues with women. Holy crap, can you get over your mysogeny so we can have at least one woman standing at the end of the series? Jack better impregnate Juliet fast cause I love, love her.
Apr. 29th, 2008 06:47 am (UTC)
Yeah, I'm damn tired of the women being mowed down while men survive multiple murder attempts. :–( And I don't *really* want Juliet to turn into another mommy! But what other way is there for a woman to stay alive on this show?
Apr. 27th, 2008 11:17 am (UTC)
I was just as shocked about the number of people who died in the last episode and something tells me that it's not over, even though the smoke monster took care of the nastiest baddies for the moment. I get the feeling that most everyone is going to die before things change... and I've got my own suspicions about how it's going to change.

I really hope they do a loop-de-loop on us and allow one or a few of our beloved characters to actually travel back in time to a point where they can *fix* all this-- like Jack showing up before they all leave the beach for the tower and the Looking Glass-- saving not only everyone who died in the attack on the barracks, but Charlie as well. *That* would be cool. On the other hand... I'm one of those happy-ending suckers. :(
Apr. 29th, 2008 06:49 am (UTC)
Oh yeah, I think that the death march has just begun, alas. :-/

And I doubt we'll get a do-over but I'm definitely into a happy endings! At least we can always write our own!
