C'mon get happy?

So you know Lost: No one ever ends up with the one they love. People (a whole bunch of them) die tragically. They sell their souls to the devil, et cetera. It seems no one is destined for a happy ending, unless we give them one. So ... I was thinking of starting a fic type thing where people write a happy ending for their favorite characters. It's usually better to do these during the hiatus and all but it's on my mind now.

This could be a formal thing or something as simple as you going, "By Jove! I think I will write a happy ending fic!"

(And yes, I still love angst but sometimes we need some happiness too, yes?)

So, a Happy Endings kind of fic thing should be:

A proper ficathon with a list of prompts and everything!
4(20.0%)
It could be a fic table!
1(5.0%)
It could be a one-day prompt at Lostsquee
4(20.0%)
Just a simple "Write a Lost Happy Ending Fic" will suffice
2(10.0%)

And the timing should be:

Right now!
1(5.0%)
Right after the season finale
3(15.0%)
After we've had time to process the season finale
4(20.0%)
Something ongoing, with no particular deadline
5(25.0%)
Doesn't matter, I won't have time/am not interested anyway!

Erm, can I be stupid and ask what a ficathon is? Sorry, I hear that word banded around, but I've never been sure of the specifics. Do you mean something along the lines of what Lostsquee usually is, with a prompt every day/week/whatever, and then people write on as many of the days as they can? Or is it something else entirely? *is clueless*

Sounds like it could be fun though. Time permitting, I'd take part in something like that :)

A ficathon can be many things: Usually people pick a prompt or express interest in writing particular pairings and then are assigned a prompt that someone else submitted. Like with the lost_hohoho fic you wrote me! And I wrote yours! :D There's usually a few weeks at least between the time prompts are chosen/assignments are handed out and the time fics are due so people can leisurely plot them out, do research, whatever.

I'm thinking of doing a very open-ended one with optional prompts so people can approach it however they like! Because handing out assignments is really a LOT of work! I did it once, a long time ago and it took me hours to match up people's requests with other people willing to write them.

Well, exchanges, like lost_hohoho, are my favourites, so I would definitely do that, but I understand that would be a lot of work, so of course that's completely up to you and if you'd have the time. If you needed help putting something like that together, I am crazy and like playing with things like that, so if you let me do it on a weekend, I reckon I'd have the time. Weekdays are pretty much lost to me (no pun intended), but I usually have more computer time on the weekend. Let me know if you think you'd want any help, whether doing an exchange or something else :)

And sorry for ramblin so long. Anyway, this sounds like a nice idea, so I'm looking forward to seeing what you decide to do with it.
