THIS is not good. :-(

The bubble in social networking has burst, decisively. LiveJournal, the San Francisco-based arm of Sup, a Russian Internet startup, has cut about 20 of 28 employees — and offered them no severance, we're told.

What struck me about the article -- besides a big black wave of depression and worry -- is how they said "the weakest of the herd" and "other obscure sites." LJ, the weakest of the herd? Obscure? I hardly think so. As they say, LJ is full of rabid fans who rely on LJ as the place to air their obsessions. Not to mention the fact that largely because of that ^^^, we make friendships that we also rely on. How much of that would we lose if we lost LJ? Surely, if there's any way the users can stop it from going under, we'll find a way. *grasps for a sliver of hope*

And, I just bought a permanent account. *curses*
