Vampire Diaires

Ian is the ONLY reason to watch this but mmmm, it's good to see him again. And as a deliciously bad vamp? Yeah, that works for me. There might be some TiVoing and fast-forwarding through everything-but-Ian here. (And perhaps googling for Mitchell (Being Human)/Damon fic.;) But someone please tell me, WHY ON EARTH would anyone ever want to repeat high school? Srsly!

I tried watching that show, but it was so boring I gave up. Ian is really, really pretty but on the whole the show feels very been there, done that.

I just posted about that the other day. If you're a vampire, even a good vampire, why in the hell would you be going to high school? What possible purpose could that serve?

Ian definitely brings the pretty but the high school angle is soooooo tired. And yeah, if I had eternal life, I'd wait until the love of my life graduated, at least. Few places would be worse than high school to keep an identity like that secret!

That is the one thing I just don't get about the HS vampires -- why, why go to school? But if they didn't they couldn't date Mary Sue-esque high school girls, which it's better to not think about, because it's icky.

Ha, it's so true. It's because the audience for vamp novels is the high school girl, apparently. (Although I didn't discover the Anne Rice books until later on.) But yeah, high school is such a hassle, vampire or not!

LOL, if Ian wasn't there I would so not even have checked it out, but... Ian. I mean. IAN. He's evil, he's delicious, he's the best one out of the lot by far and uhm, yes. I don't give a damn about the rest and I'm totally with you on high school, but after I sat through a movie concerning the scepter of Moses saving the world from a drowning apocalypse just because his pretty face was in there... I can sit through this. ;)

(actually, I kinda want to do a spn crossover and slash Damon with Dean... at least just for the sheer pretty factor *cough*.)

Oh, Damon and Dean would be TOO delicious. (I was always craving Dean with, uh, that vamp from Dead Man's Blood. What was his name again? He was HOT.)

I missed VD tonight. Ooops.

I didn't get that either. I have a hard time with vampires falling for high school students (I'll exclude Buffy since she's a slayer and not a "normal" high school student). Has anyone hung out with teenagers lately? They're annoying! (For the most part - LOL.) I'm 10 years older than some of them and it's annoying - how is a vampire HUNDREDS of years older supposed to deal with the immaturity? *done ranting now, really*

Beyond the thrill of young flesh, I don't get the appeal of high schoolers either! Besides, trying to constantly keep up with youth culture would be exhausting!

I think fast forward is the way to go! lol! or I'll have in on in the background while doing other stuff because it was so bad.

I think that the idea of high school must come from the "good vampires" think they deserve eternal damnation and suffering. that's all I got.
Sep. 21st, 2009 12:39 am (UTC)
I totally missed the second ep. Oh well.

And hee, eternal suffering would explain everything!
Sep. 15th, 2009 12:30 pm (UTC)
I don't know. I was no big fan of high school. I think that people who say those are the best years of your life are lying liars that lie. But...if I could do it again as a mysterious hottie with {insert super power here} that knows all the answers? I'd probably give it a whirl every now and again. Maybe.

Someone on TWOP said that Vampire Diaries was like Twilight having sex with an emo band and then throwing up on Buffy. That made me laugh. And Ian was definitely bringing the pretty...so, yeah, I'll probably watch until something better in the time slot comes along.

Yes, maybe every now and then, but not as a rule!

Someone on TWOP said that Vampire Diaries was like Twilight having sex with an emo band and then throwing up on Buffy.

HA! Pretty accurate. Ian is pretty enough for another tune-in, if I can remember to actually tune in!

I never understand why people angst and bitch about high school. Then again, I had a really rough time in K-8 so high school was a wonderful, happy place for me with new people who didn't throw rocks at me.

Thank you for confirming my decision to not watch this show. I like Ian, but not enough to wade through a Mary-Sue teen angstfest that shamelessly exploits the popularity of Twilight.

Hurrah for a happy high school experience! It was an improvement over junior high for me, but definitely not something I'd care to repeat for eternity!

Ian is so pretty but the rest deserves fast-forwarding.
Sep. 15th, 2009 03:20 pm (UTC)
I love snarky, dark, but sort of fun vampires..and Ian is playing this role very well, plus he's hot so that makes it even better.

Why someone would want to go back to high school...for that vampire I'm thinking so he could make the teachers look bad with all he knows as opposed to them--which isn't a bad reason. :)
Sep. 21st, 2009 12:43 am (UTC)
Ian is having a ball with it, and that's fun. But I missed the second ep. Oh well!

And hee, I wonder if vampires have that classic nightmare about having a test they're not ready for! Because that would be funny.
Sep. 15th, 2009 04:51 pm (UTC)
I watched the first episode and it was so bad, I don't even know if I can bring myself to watch any more of it. And then I think about Ian's eyes. And I know that I'll be watching religiously.

As for going back to high school? I don't get it. And maybe my high school experience was sheltered, but the portrayals of high schools on tv and film just seem really far off base.
Sep. 21st, 2009 12:45 am (UTC)
Oh, Ian. I hope he's being paid accordingly since he's the only reason worth watching.

I haven't watched Gossip Girl but I'm pretty sure my high school experience was nothing like that! If I am going to watch a high school show, there better be robots or vampires or something, otherwise, why bother? ;)
Sep. 17th, 2009 02:23 am (UTC)
In Twilight they kept attending HS cause the younger they pretended to be, the longer they could stay in one place, but OMFG, I wouldn't give a flying fuck, you'd have to drag me by the hair kicking and screaming to get me back into a high school. Kicking. And. SCREAMING. My very worst nightmares (other than the ones where my kid is hurt/sick/dying)? The ones where I'm back in school for some unknown reason.
Sep. 21st, 2009 12:47 am (UTC)
The "stay in one place longer" is such a rotten excuse. High school would be the worst place to hide in plain sight and pretend to be normal. So much scrutiny and peer pressure! And rumors if you're off at all. At least they could opt for home schooling. Now, college life, that would be very handy for a vamp!

My very worst nightmares? The ones where I'm back in school for some unknown reason.

I STILL have those! It's nuts!
