V

Hey, so, V? What did you think? I wasn't really on board until the last few minutes. But, yeah, tuning in next week.

I'm gonna keep watching because I don't watch anything else on Tuesdays, but IDK, it felt rushed and underdeveloped, which I guess is because it's a pilot. But mostly I'm just kinda bummed it wasn't campier. :(

Oh, you expected campy? I guess I figured they'd go for a more straightforward approach. Not ga-ga about it, but we shall see!

I'm annoyed at myself for watching, mainly because I remember the original far too well. I did enjoy Elizabeth Mitchell though....

I do remember the highlights of the original but I don't remember how the aliens' arrival differed. EM was good. She's the main (only?) reason I'm tuning in.

I enjoyed it. My wouldn't let me watch the original which was ll the rage in grade 2 & 3 so I have no frame of reference.

Aha! Now I know exactly how much older than you I am, LOL. ;) It was too scary for such a youngster, I'm sure! They just did a marathon of the original on SyFy channel, maybe they'll do that again?

Wow - I can't believe you understood my above message. It looks like it was written by aliens. Sorry for the abundance of typos.

My mother was very overprotective of me for a long time - both in terms of content and bedtime. Until I was 9, I had to go to bed at 7:30, thus missing anything good on TV anyway. Plus for the longest time I was told the Wizard of Oz ended when they got to Emerald City.

I've always been interested in the original because of the subject matter and because it was forbidden fruit! I think Space (Canada's Syfy channel) has run it before too.

OMG, are you sure we're not related? When I went to see Fantasia's rerelease, I was astonished that they'd added an entirely new section, the Night on Bald Mountain sequence. Turns out, my mom marched us out of the theater the first time before that part started! And she likes to switch off The Sound of Music so that it ends with the wedding (no fleeing from Nazis.) Sounds like both our moms are very big on happy endings and on skipping all 'unpleasantness!'

Maybe we were separated at birth!

The Sound of Music got a pass at my household - apparently Nazis were not as frightening as flying monkeys.

All the twists were a little predictable but I was intrigued by the end and I have nothing to watch on Tuesdays, so I'll probably keep at it. I thought Alan and Elizabeth looked too similar that it was awkward and couldn't figure out if they were supposed to be related and I already don't like the kid that plays her son but I'm hoping this was just Pilot awkwardness that'll work out with more breathing room instead of trying to stuff everything in an hour. They probably could've used a 2 hour pilot.

Just me or was it like Scott Wolf playing Tom Cruise?

Wait, Alan & Elizabeth were related? I thought they were just FBI partners! I agree, the pilot was nowhere near as stunning as Lost, but then, how many shows can stand up to that?

Ha, maybe that's why I've never been a huge Scott Wolf fan. I was always about Foxy, even on Party of 5.

No they weren't related. I just had a hard time figuring out if they were supposed to be since I think the actors look a lot alike.

It's a little less cheesier than the original series, but that was the 80's so I give it a lot of leeway, and I like the characters so far too, totally tuning in again.

And was I the only one getting a total JACK flash when she was talking about her flaky ex-husband.

BWAH! Too funny. I guess I'd jump to the guy who got creamed by the bus! ;)

Yeah, I hope the series picks up a little. They were just laying the groundwork in the pilot, really.

It was just okay for me but since I've got nothing to watch on Tuesdays, I'll probably keep watching. Can't really see me falling in love with it though..

I thought she was awesome. ;D I saw that on Whedonesque. The Browncoats getting all indignant that people are all "OMG UNDISCOVERED FRESH NEW FACE!" amused me. :P

I remember the original series really well and I wasn't home in time to watch it... I am not sure I want to, but I am curious! *checks comments*

No one (including me) was particularly overwhelmed. But still, I'll give it a few weeks!
