"Unenjoying?"

So I was just looking up a synonym for "sad" in my AppleWorks thesaurus (shut up, it came free with the computer, and here's why) and one of the options was "unenjoying."

"Sawyer looked at him, his eyes suddenly unenjoying." WTF?

Well, spellcheck yields some interesting results too! ;-D And I'm always shocked at the words it doesn't recognize! (and I'm not just talking the smutty ones!)

Dude. I had to look it up for myself. Hell, I didn't even know that was considered a word. So I looked up "angry" on AppleWorks for more of their linguistic gems (and I use that damn thesaurus a lot when writing--how come I never noticed this stuff?), and got "shirty." That's a word too? *pokes vocabulary* Did I miss something? I also quite like "wrothy." As in: "I am, like, SO wrothy today. *huffs*"?

Heh! "Shirty" is a British-ism, so that kind of works. But it's like suggesting "knickers" for underwear. ;-D

Wait ... "wrothy?" Did they mean "wrathy?" That's not a word either! AAAAAH! I'm feeling rather *wrathy.*

(shivers in a scared huddle with other former English majors!)

How did I not know that? I'm a terrible Anglophile, eek! *grins*

I love that LJ's spellcheck (well, for what it's worth) rejected "wrothy." Wrothy, wrathy. Sounds like a fucked up vocal exercise.

Apparently you really can take any noun and make an adjective out of it by adding "y." Huh.

*shivers too... because I am feary* o_O
